Shorter-term coworkers
Coworkers of the Oaklands Park Camphill Community come from all walks of life, from many countries, and are accepted regardless of religious or racial background.
Often young volunteers join the community for all or part of a 'gap-year' to experience the benefits of a life-sharing community aiming for social and environmental renewal. In return they give valuable help in the running of households, craft workshops, the working of the land and educational activities. They also contribute to an understanding of national, cultural and personal diversity.
Recruitment takes place largely by word of mouth. Interested persons often approaching us after initial contact with the community philosophy, or from previous experience within related initiatives. However, we also advertise in relevant, philosophically compatible media, maintain a Camphill Community website and, within the Camphill Village Trust, have the services of an appointed recruitment officer.
A thorough process is involved when dealing with all applications, usually through correspondence and, where possible, a visit by those intending to make a longer-term commitment is encouraged. References are taken up prior to acceptance and mandatory disclosures from the CRB are be obtained. There will be a trial period and formal review to ascertain mutual satisfaction, before a long-term commitment is made.
