Farm
Oaklands 55 hectare Farm has 12 milking cows, 40 ewes, 50 chickens, 2 pigs and a mohair goat. It is managed from a biodynamic understanding of Nature by the community - a team of around 10 currently led by our house-father and farmer Henk.
We grow grass for silage, hay and grazing, grain and legumes, and build the fertility through the grass ley which is then given over to the field vegetables - managed by the garden team - as a part of a 7 year rotation. The wool goes to The George weavery so the community can see the whole cycle through.
We welcome enquiries for up to two apprentices at one time who wish to experience and learn more about biodynamic agriculture on the farm .
