The George
In our nearest village, Newnham on Severn, the community has a weavery, cafe and shop with gallery space. This is housed in an old inn which still bears the original name of The George. This social initiative is welcome both by Oaklands and Newnham.
The weavery uses natural dyes and wool from Oaklands' sheep. The cafe uses Oaklands produce wherever practical. The gallery works with local artists. The toys and books in the shop are selected to reflect the concerns and broad approach of the community.
